Computers in the Workplace
My chosen industry is education. I worked in the classroom as a kindergarten teacher for 9 years and then taught online for 2 years, and i currently tutor in reading online. Technology plays a bigger role in education now than it ever has. The pandemic in 2020 heightened the need for technology in the classroom. As a teacher, when we transitioned back into the classroom after lockdown, I had to get very familiar with technology. We were forced to adapt our entire curriculum into a virtual setting. Today, most curriculum is still virtual or somewhat virtual. most schools still utilize computers, tablets, or chromebooks for student work. In addition to working online myself, my 11 year old son attends a virtual school. We rely solely on technology for our education.
AI technology is making its way into education as well. I use AI tools in my role as a virtual tutor to customize my students' learning experience. I use a system that virtually assesses students and groups them according to their scores. The system tells me what the students know and what content they need to work on next. In the classroom, teachers use AI technology to store student data, grade automatically, schedule meetings, and collect reports. Students are able to use AI technology with adaptive learning games, interactive learning experiences, and instant feedback. Although technology cannot (or should not) replace live teaching experiences, it does make some things easier for teachers. AI technology is a growing trend in education and will continue to aid in the learning environment.
